Terminologi



Hej,

Jeg bliver en gang imellem forvirret af et enkelt ord i terminologien ifbm. kryptering/signering.

Jeg mangler den korrekte term for det der basalt set er kombinationen af:
'signeret publickey' + 'privatekey'
Altså den pakke man kan exportere og importere (typisk i PKCS#12 format).

Ser man på Mozilla, kaldes dette et 'Certificate'
Ser man på www.digitalsignatur.dk, kaldes pakken 'Digital Signatur'

Ser man på X.509, så er:
'Certificate':
"The public keys of a user, together with some other information,
rendered unforgeable by encipherment with the private key of the
certification authority which issued it", eller kort det jeg prøver at
udtrykke med 'signeret publickey', altså ikke nogen 'privatekey' inkluderet.

'Digitale Signature' er ikke i definitions i ITU-T Rec. X.509 (1993E), inde i dokumentet er dog beskrevet 'Digital signature':
"This mechanism involves the encipherment, by the originator's private
key, of a compressed string of the relevant data to be transferred...."


Så X.509 siger at digital signatur er mekanismen eller måske også det der kommer ud af den digitale signering.
(Svarende til når man fører en pen hen over et stykke papir og derved signerer papiret og det der læses på papiret er signaturen.)
Og dette stemmer også med min intuitive opfattelse af termen "Digital Signatur"


Så både 'Certifikat' og 'Digital Signatur' er uheldige valg for det der vel nærmest fysisk kan sammenlignes med et signatur-stempel.
(Det er jo også denne man skal opbevare i at aflåst skrin og ikke signaturen. Man ved jo aldrig hvad Thorsen & Trads kunne finde på at brugen en sådan til.) ;-)


Så hvad er det korrekte navn/term?
