Du går ind i BIOS ved opstart af PC , evt. læser du i manualen
der fulgte med bundkortet.
Der er gerne nogle indstillinger der vedrører power-now et sted,
og måske også cool-&-quiet.

så burde det køre hvis bundkort/bios tillader det.

Min Athlon-64 kører ubuntu-64 bit og det virker,
CPU skifter mellem 1000-1800 MHz og det er std. installation.
Pt. er det 9.04 beta der kører.
jeg kan dog se at "powernowd" pakken er installeret, så det er
måske den der styrer det.
Laptop-mode kan dog også pille ved CPU, selvom det nok var
tiltænk laptops.

Alternativ er "cpufreqd" som også kan justere CPU-frekvens
