Du skal finde ud af, hvad din monitor kan klare
af horizontal og vertikal refresh rate.

Hvis du har en .INF fil til windows og kan finde
din monitor deri, står der måske noget à la:

[IBMP201.AddReg]
HKR,"MODES\1600,1200",Mode1,,"30.0-107.0,50.0-160.0,+,+"

(Det er for en IBM P201 monitor).

Så skal man rette i /etc/X11/xorg.conf (ligger måske
et andet sted i din distribution).

i Section "Monitor" skal der rettes i linierne:

HorizSync: 30.0-107.0
VertRefresh: 50.0-160.0

hvor intervallerne fiskes ud fra linien i .inf
filen.

Så burde X selv kunne finde ud af at køre
med den højeste hastighed monitoren kan
klare.

På en redhat/fedora ligger der i øvrigt en
fil /usr/share/hwdata/MonitorsDB med de
samme oplysninger om en masse skærme.
