Module dependencies / kernekonfiguration



Jeg har oversat en kerne under RH 6.1 (kerne 2.2.12) og får nu under
opstart:

/lib/modules/2.2.12-20/net/sktr.o: unresolved symbol(s)
/lib/modules/2.2.12-20/net/olympic.o: unresolved symbol(s)
/lib/modules/2.2.12-20/net/ibmtr.o: unresolved symbol(s)
/lib/modules/2.2.12-20/pcmcia/ibmtr_cs.o: unresolved symbol(s)
/lib/modules/2.2.12-20/misc/iph5526.o: unresolved symbol(s)

Som jeg har fundet ud af er fejlmeddelelser fra depmod -a

Har jeg mon fattet det rigtigt hvis jeg tror, at depmod -a finder ud af
hvilke moduler der er afhængige af hinanden, så modprobe kan loade et
"hieraki" af moduler, når kernen synes det er nødvendigt...?

Jeg har fundet ud af at ovenstående moduler i fejlmeddelelsen fra depmod
er bla.  drivere til token ring adaptere, som jeg udtrykkeligt har valgt
fra (tr-support inkl.) i xconfig, da jeg næppe nogensinde kommer i
nærheden af et tr-adapter.

Kommer fejlmeddelelsen måske netop fordi jeg har valgt dem fra?
Hvilke andre moduler kan være afhængige af et specifikt tr-adapter?

depmod -ae ( skulle give hvilke symboler der er "unresolved") giver
flg.:

Ikke noget _jeg_ bliver kogere af....

Jeg havde egentlig troet at xconfig ville brokke sig hvis jeg fravalgte
et modul der skulle bruges af et andet. Er det blot ønsketænkning?

Der er vist kommet en nyere version af kernen siden den jeg har. Bør jeg
opgradere? (hvorfor/hvorfor ikke ?)

Håber der er en der kan hjælpe mig, så jeg kan blive lidt klogere.
