Jeg ved ikke helt om det også dækker Mozilla, men med pine
virker det fint at skrive i filen ~/.mailcap

Der skriver jeg fx:
# Microsoft Word files
application/msword;antiword %s ; copiousoutput

# PDF files
application/pdf;pdftotext %s - | less; needsterminal

# tar.gz files, view only content
application/x-tgz;tar tzvf %s ; copiousoutput

# Danmarks Radio, arkiv radio
audio/x-pn-realaudio;trplayer %s


(det fremgår ikke af ovenstående, men jeg har X installeret)
